General Surgery
Our veterinary team is experienced in a range of soft tissue procedures- from desexing, lump removals, wound stitch ups to major abdominal surgery and caesarean procedures. Orthopaedic surgeries ( TPLO for cruciate repair, fractures etc) are also performed at our practice. The Shire Vet has two dedicated surgery theatres and separate dog/cat recovery wards as well as the latest equipment in anaesthetic monitoring.
Desexing
The Shire Vet carries out desexing procedures for pets Monday to Friday. Deciding to desex your pets can have a number health & behavioural benefits as they grow older. In general we recommend desexing your dog at around 6 months of age and cats at 4 months of age. Timing however can be different for larger breed dogs. If you would like to discuss desexing your animal our friendly staff is happy to assist you.
