Veterinary Nurse and Practice Manager

Born and raised in the Sutherland Shire, Vicki has shown a passion for all creatures great and small from a young age. With her nurturing nature and the love of helping people and their pets, vet nursing was always on the cards. Vicki has more than 30 years of experience and is a qualified veterinary nurse, dynamic practice manager and passionate animal lover. She has strong experience managing practices, and her ability to support and nurture both staff, clients and their pets creates a valued work culture and welcoming experience. 

Vicki has spent more than six years educating veterinary nurses at TAFE and also co-founded the charity Pets in the Park, which provides veterinary care for pets with homeless or less fortunate owners. Under Vicki’s guidance, Pets in the Park has grown to be a national charity across multiple states.

The thing that excites Vicki the most is working with the amazing vets and nursing team at The Shire Vet. Vicki has worked closely with these colleagues for many years at different hospitals and has the upmost respect and trust in them. She is very proud to bring The Shire Vet to the community.

Dr Hannah graduated from the University of Sydney and is a shire local. She has a love for all animals and wants to see them living their best life. Since graduating she has worked in small animal practice, and loves the variety of work that GP has to offer- with no day being the same.

She has done further study and has an interest in small animal abdominal ultrasound. She enjoys all aspects of being a vet, particularly geriatric and palliative care.

Outside of work Dr Hannah can be found spending time with her family, relaxing outdoors and crochet. Hannah works part time on Thursdays and Fridays and a rotating Saturday roster.

Emma has worked in some of the busiest practices in the Sutherland Shire and joins us with 9 years of experience. Emma enjoys nurturing, guiding, and supporting her veterinary colleagues. These exceptional values made her the perfect leader for our nursing unit. 

Emma has a keen interest in anaesthetic and surgery and a strong passion for canine behaviour and puppy training and is one of our lovely puppy preschool instructors. She endeavours to help guide new puppy owners and families to create a special bond with their puppy along with encouraging the development of calm well-mannered behaviours as a foundation for life.  Emma is enthusiastic about dental care and is excited to use her knowledge and skills in our dedicated dental suite.  

Emma is a proud pet mum to Kenai the Bull Arab, Mya the Wolfhound cross, Orlando the Quaker and Dobby the white bellied Caique.

Brooke joins our practice as a highly proficient veterinary nurse with 6 years experience, having worked locally for many years, with a special focus on anaesthetic nursing and puppy training.

Brooke has furthered her studies within these areas and is one of our lovely puppy preschool instructors, she is passionate about educating new puppy owners and providing young dogs with all-encompassing care and safety as they navigate early life. Brooke also has completed advanced dentistry courses and excited to use her knowledge and skills in our dedicated dental suite.  

Brooke also has great interest in content creation and photography and is the creative face behind our social media. 

She is a proud pet mum to Lui the handsome Kelpie and Luna her kelpie mixed breed foster fail that she hand raised from 2 weeks of age.

Jo joins our team with over 24 years of experience as a veterinary nurse, completing her studies and beginning her career in New Zealand, before moving to Australia. 

She has worked in large general practice vet hospitals, emergency vets and veterinary teaching hospitals, gaining valuable knowledge. Jo has a keen interest in imaging such as radiology and sonography and is excited to work closely with our entire team, in particular, Dr Michelle. 

Jo is very passionate about creating a stress free environment and ensuring that all patients feel safe and comfortable in the hospital while they are away from their family members.

Outside of work, Jo is a proud mum to 3 kids and Spoodle, Millie and her Domestic Short hair cat Huddy.

Annalese has grown up in the Sutherland-shire and has been a qualified veterinary nurse for 6 years. Growing up Annalese has always had a menagerie of animals and knew from a very young age that she would one day work with them.

She has a strong interest in dog behaviour as well as surgical nursing and is very excited to use her knowledge and experience alongside our dedicated team.  Annalese is devoted to ensuring each pet is provided with gold standard care and always treats patients at our hospital as one of her own.

When she's not at work she enjoys days out on the water with her German Short Haired Pointer, Sirus and snuggling on the lounge with her two cats Squishy the Tonkinese and Blue the Domestic cat.

Daina joins our practice as a highly competent veterinary nurse with 8 years experience. Daina has a keen interest in surgical nursing and loves to ensure that all pets receive the best possible care during their stay at the hospital.

Daina has previously worked very closely with cat rescue groups helping those in need find the purrfect loving home.  She also loves the smaller pocket pets including rabbits and guinea pigs and looks forward to working closely in rabbit medicine with Dr Michelle. 

Daina is a proud mum to 2 children and her Burmese cat Mia.

Vanessa joins our nursing team as a valuable and highly compassionate veterinary nurse with 6 years experience. Being a social butterfly her bright and bubbly personality is the perfect fit for our team. She enjoys getting to know the families visiting our hospital and ensuring they know their 4 legged friends are in the very best of hands.

Vanessa has a keen interest in both surgical nursing and dentistry and has undergone further training in these areas. She has also previously instructed puppy preschool classes locally and loves being able to assist and educate families to form a life long bond with their new puppy.

Vanessa is a proud mum to her son Luca and pet mum to Jazzie and Squizzie the Shetland Sheepdogs.


Chelsea Howarth

Chelsea joins us a dedicated and compassionate veterinary nurse holding her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing. 

She has a strong passion for surgical and clinical nursing, with a heart full of love for animals she strives to provide gold standard veterinary care for all pets that visit our hospital.

Chelsea enjoys assisting with clinical pathology and preparing any sampling for pets in need, she wishes to continue to develop her skills within this area under the guidance of our experienced veterinary team. 

Chelsea is a proud pet mum to Ash the cat.

Kirsty Stevens

Receptionist and Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Kirsty joins our team as a trainee veterinary nurse and experienced receptionist. She has a cert II in animal studies and has worked in the industry since 2014. 

She is excited to continue her career path in veterinary nursing with the support of our exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable team.  Kirsty has a strong dedication to animal care and strives to create a calm and stress-free experience for all animals visiting our hospital.

Kirsty is a proud mum to 3 boys and Conan the 15 year old pug and Erebus the cat.
